Paint palettes, sketches, paint spoons and old family photos can be found if you look inside the master's suitcase. By visiting every nook and cranny of the former family house and studio, we can learn about the turbulent life of István Szőnyi and his family, and his art through his works. The secrets of the past will be revealed: how and from what the paints were made in the past. During the creative museum-educational session, everyone can create their own life portrait using the painter's sketches and paintings.

István Szőnyi himself experimented with the egg tempera he liked to use. But what does it take to finally get the picture he has in mind onto canvas? By the end of the session, you will be able to create your own painting using the "secret" recipe.

A guided session with everything we provide, you just add your creative drive and imagination, express yourself with an exciting artistic technique!
How can you tell a story, talk about feelings and thoughts with fragments of images and text? You can find out if you try the montage technique with us. But if you just want to create an interesting, unique visual piece of art, you can glue together the pieces of images as you like and create your own visual world with collage.
This technique not only supports self-expression, but also develops visual thinking, creative problem solving and the ability to interpret images.

In the pairs task, you have to make a portrait of each other using a technique of your choice. You can learn a lot about each other by studying each other's faces. Before we start, we will show you the different ways Szőnyi portrayed himself in his self-portraits and multi-figure paintings, and also who he liked to paint portraits of. We also talk about the behind-the-scenes of portrait painting. We tell you about the traits and states of mind previously associated with a particular facial feature.
The chosen technique can be: drawing, oil pastel, painting. We provide the necessary tools and an authentic location and help you get started.
The programme is especially recommended for graduating classes. Digitised versions of the artwork can be distributed as a commemorative postcard or made into a personalised photo album.

What do the objects around us tell us about ourselves? How do we get to know István Szőnyi, if we can observe and try out the special tools and objects of his former home in his studio. Let's see how a 20th century painter with a classical value and a humane personality can show today's teenagers an example of sustainability with objects from the 19th and 20th centuries.

All our activities are tailored to the needs of the age group.
Drama games will help children to explore the museum in an experiential way, where they can bring some of Szőnyi's paintings to life and take on the role of the characters in them. We use a variety of drama techniques - live painting, storytelling, talking paintings and other alternative methods - to broaden the horizons of learning and make a visit to the museum memorable and experiential.

The static transfer of knowledge is enriched with movement games. Our fun team competitions test who can most accurately and quickly set up a makeshift model and paint it with a live brush. We offer tasks like these for those who find it hard to stay still. The games develop concentration, observation and cooperation skills.

The walk starts with a playful guided tour of the museum and the painter's studio, then we continue through the streets of Zebegény to see the sights of the village. Our journey through time will be enriched by a wealth of old stories, archive photos and interesting and exciting puzzles.

We offer a full-day programme for groups of students, which you can put together from any programme elements you choose.
In the morning, you can choose from three different museum education sessions, combined with different creative activities or even movement games for higher energy classes. The second half of the day will be dedicated to discovering the sights of Zebegény on an interactive walk along the forest path that winds through the village.

During the session, children can learn about colours and shapes through playful exercises. They will also get a glimpse into the "witch's kitchen" of István Szőnyi, where they will also learn how the special shades of egg tempera were created under his hands.
