Do you know what István Szőnyi's favourite subjects were as a painter, or how he and his fellow artists passed the time in summer? Who are the stained glass windows of the church designed by Károly Kós? Who was the lady of the blue shuttered houses on the Danube who organised the Flower Olympics in Zebegény?
Our tour starts from the museum, where you can get acquainted with István Szőnyi's home and studio, see a selection of his works depicting his family, the village everyday life, the Danube Bend and the landscape of Zebegény. Our walk continues through the streets of Zebegény, visiting the cemetery, the Calvary Hill, and then from the lookout we will see several sights of the village. We'll see where Szőnyi painted his most beautiful pictures, visit the Chapel of the Rock, and finish our tour at the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady of the Snow, designed by Kós Károly. Along the way, we will recall the village's past with anecdotes and archive photos and tell you about the artists whose lives and art are intertwined with Zebegék.

Come with us for a walk in the unique beauty of the Danube bend village, let's explore together the winding streets and places of interest of Zebegény.
For István Szőnyi, Zebegény was the centre of the world, where he painted his most beautiful pictures. He was captivated by the view of the Danube bend and the beauty of the landscape of Zebegény. During our walk, we will visit the places where his famous paintings, also exhibited in the museum, were taken. On this exciting discovery tour, past and present become visible at the same time. We will visit the original locations and show you the artwork from the viewpoint of the original, while telling you the story of the painting and why Szőnyi stuck to a theme, a location, a motif, why he sometimes painted the same thing over and over again.
The walk route can be followed individually (without a guide) with the help of a thematic guide available for purchase at the museum. The guidebook, which also includes a map, highlights the places that inspired Szőny. Old and new pictures of the same spot help you find the places where Szőnyi's easel once stood.
The price of the guide, available for purchase at the museum, is HUF 500.
